What Make a Better Sippy Cup

By July 14, 2014 No Comments

At one time, parents had few options when it came time to buy sippy cups for their children. Studies have been performed on sippy cups to determine that Bisphenol A or BPA, a common chemical in plastic, posed harm to children who drank out of cups that were made using it. The fear over BPA is something that popped up in 2008.

This created a sense of panic and lead to the tremendous rise in popularity of BPA-free cups. Normally, situations where tremendous panic arises suddenly tend to taper off as time goes on. The same can’t be said for the BPA scare in sippy cups. It created a movement that lead to most manufacturers of sippy cups and baby formulas to eliminate any trace of BPA from their products.

Finding the right sippy cup is something that’s easier said than done. A great sippy cup has to keep cold drinks cold and warm drinks warm. It also has to have a lid that isn’t going to fall off if the cup is dropped or the child tries to remove the lid with their teeth.

Odds are the average parent will go through several iterations of sippy cups before they find the right one. This process of trial and error will result in many spills and other unfortunate circumstances. Once the right sippy cup is located, everything will be smooth sailing from that point. Regardless the sturdy nature of your chosen sippy cup, you have to watch your children when they’re drinking out of them.

Children have a tendency to do strange things when they’re left unattended. A child who’s left by themselves will try to do everything that you don’t want them to do with their sippy cup. The only time that you can leave them alone with their sippy cup is when they go to bed for the night.  Even then, you have to make sure that they know the ground rules.

The last thing you would want to have happen is for them to spill their drink all over themselves and their sheets.
